According to me Uber is often described as a two-sided marketplace or model because it brings together two distinct groups of users – riders and drivers.
The interaction between these two groups, facilitated by the Uber platform, creates a marketplace where demand (riders) meets supply (drivers) in real-time. The platform’s success relies on efficiently matching riders with available drivers, optimizing routes, and providing a seamless payment process.
This two-sided model allows Uber to scale its operations rapidly by attracting both riders and drivers to join the platform. As the number of riders increases, it becomes more attractive for drivers to join, and vice versa, creating a network effect that benefits both sides of the marketplace. Uber makes revenue by taking a percentage of the fare paid by the rider for each completed trip.
This two-sided model is common in various digital platforms where two distinct user groups interact, and the platform serves as an intermediary, connecting supply with demand.
Okay thank you so much
